House project helps with my success in the future. It's given me more confidence and hope. I am glad that I have people there that will support me

My House Project journey was a little bit nerve wracking, but it was a good experience because I had the chance to prove that I could be independent

House Project was good for making friends and having conversations – this stood out to me the most. The residential was fun, we did activities such as archery and team building exercises.

Yeah the house project means to me a lot as it teaches me how to communicate efficiently, how to cook, time management and finance management

It’s giving me the support I need moving forward as an adult and meeting different people

House Project has really given me a community and an extra support network. As a care leaver I got to meet people like Megan, Shaq and Hannah, and now that I am currently in independent living, I’ve always got my support system to help me. I would ring Megan at random times during the day to understand how to go about doing things, I think it does prepare you for adult living and independent living. I think even for moving in, there was a lot of support that I got, with helping me move, paint, decorate and also budgeting skills, smart spending. Thank you so much. Now I am in my own place, yes, I am still getting the support, but I am happy.

Young people at the heart of decision making

Their collective views and ideas drive the development of all House Projects through the Care Leavers National Movement. They meet on a regular basis to share good practice, talk about and find solutions to any challenges they are facing and to suggest new ways of doing things. They work hard, have fun and their views make a real difference to how young people leave care and move into their own homes.
